Postcard depicting a steamship and men in small boats in a harbor. The caption reads, ‘Cramp’s Shipyard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.’ The description on the verso reads, ‘Cramp’s Ship Yard, Beach and Ball Streets, erected 1830. Over 300 vessels were built in these yards, including some of the best known “Ocean Greyhounds” and warships.’ The message on the verso reads, ‘Captain, Best wishes, hope you have 81 more. E.H.F.' Note on the verso reads, ‘Received and answered September 15, 1913.’ The card is addressed to Captain J.R. Hattrick, Room 332, House 8, Sailors Snug Harbor, New York, and is postmarked Philadelphia, September 13, 1913.Collection
