Description

Postcard depicting an aerial view of an island city. The caption reads, ‘Air View of Key West, Florida’. The description on the verso reads, 'Key West is a tiny tropical key on the coast of Florida lying between the Atlantic Ocean on the one side and the Gulf of Mexico on the other - it is the southernmost part of the United States.' The message on the verso reads, 'October, 1943, 616 Caroline Street, Key West, Florida. Hello Mr. Dopson, Bet you are thinking I wasn't going to send you a card like I said, aren't you? Have you been working hard lately? I haven't, so far this is a very easy job I have here but I still don't like it so much though. Say, tell Mabeline to write sometime, I think she's forgotten me. It has sure been raining here lately. Must close for now. Catherine Dunlop'. The card is addressed to Mr. R.E. Dopson, care of Winn and Lovett Grocery Company, Drawer B, West Bay Station, Jacksonville, Florida.
