Wood carving by Mario Sanchez depicting a street scene in Ybor City, Tampa. Albaricoque horse and buggy passing in the street, man pushing a wheel barrel and boy flying a kite. People are standing in front of stores waving as the cart drives by.
Caption written by Sanchez reads, 'This scene was Ybor City in 1929, the corner of Twelfth Avenue and 17th Street. The corner coffee shop was where the so-called Champions of Dominoes met every day after work to play the game and discuss politics and baseball, and drink strong Cuban coffee. To the right is El Louvre Meat Market where the meat was sold fresh daily and where ice was not used. The ice cream man gave two full cones of apricot sherbet for a nickel and still made a good profit'.Type of Sculpture
