Black and white photograph of Commodore David Porter's anti-pirate fleet in Key West harbor. The U.S. Navy fleet includes the U.S.S. Sea Gull, seen in the left center, the first steam powered warship (side-wheeler) to be used in active service. The anti-piracy fleet was based in Key West in the early 1820s.
