First jet service by any US Airline began on October 26, 1958, when this Pan American World Airways Boeing 707 - the Clipper "America"- left New York for Paris. Flying time was less than nine hours, cutting in half the fastest time then available by propeller aircraft. Pan Am's widebody 747 Clippers linked US cities with major European gateways many times a day. Pan American World Airways in 1977 celebrated its 50th Anniversary of international air service.Collection
