Description

Curtained sleeping berths and breakfast in bed at 25,000 feet were among the service features aboard Pan Am's Boeing Stratocruiser of the 1950s. The double-decked airliner, a favorite of travelers, brought new luxury to long-distance flying with its lower-deck cocktail lounge and sumptuous accommodations. Pan Am introduced the "Strat" in 1949 on transatlantic and transpacific routes. Pan American World Airways in 1977 celebrated its 50th Anniversary of international air service.
