Description

Postcard depicting a large house. The caption reads, ‘Audubon House, Key West, Florida’. The description on the verso reads, 'The Audubon House, Key West, Florida, stands today as it stood in the 1830s, when its windows overlooked a page unique in American history. Its owner, master pilot John Geiger, played host to naturalist James Audubon, who produced many of his famous bird paintings in the upstairs study. The house has been completely restored by Miami businessman Mitchell Wolfson, a Key West native, who has filled the historic building with antiques and treasures of the 18th and 19th centuries, including the rare four-volume "elephant folio" by Audubon.'
