Handmade doll made by Margaret Waddell while in Key West visiting her son, James A. Waddell, who was then mayor of Key West.
James A. Waddell came to Key West in 1881 to accept a position in the White Bank. Later he was active in Real Estate as a consequence of receiving the assets of the White family upon their death. Waddell was twice mayor of Key West. About 1885, Waddell's mother, Margaret Waddell, visited son and brought he first daughter, Lillian Alberta Waddell, to visit her father. Lillian was being raised in the home town of Perth, Ontario, Canada by James' sisters. When they arrived in Key West the mother fabricated this doll for Lillian.Collection
