Description

Oil and stickers on canvas by Tennessee Williams depicting a naked woman holding a triton standing between two naked figures. 'She sang beyond the genius of the sea,' is the first line of Wallace Stevens' poem, 'The Idea of Order at Key West', perhaps his greatest and best-known work. From 1922 to 1940, Stevens made several visits to Key West and enjoyed a friendship with both Ernest Hemingway and Robert Frost, who also lived on the island.
