Postcard depicting people swimming at Bahia Honda State Park with the bridge in the background during sunset.  Notation on verso, 'The highest bridge in the Overseas Highway system rising 65 feet over the water.  All of these bridges are built on what was formerly the road bed for the Florida East Coast Railway, which connected Key West with the mainland and was completed in the early 1900s.  The Labor Day hurricane of 1935 destroyed the railroad, and the road bed was offered to the state for use as a highway, which was completed in 1942.'Subject Place
