John Peter Shindel Gobin was Captain of Company C of the 47th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. During the Civil War he penned numerous colorful letters to his family and friends detailing his life during wartime. This book contains 172 full color scans from 47 letters penned by Captain Gobin between 1861-1865. The letters describe his time in Virginia; Washington D.C; Key West, FL; Hilton Head, SC; Beaufort, SC; New Orleans, LA; Sandy Hook, MD; Frederick, MD; and Charleston, SC.
