Description

Postcard depicting a small boat on the beach near palm trees and mangroves. The description on the verso reads, ‘Typical scene on the Florida Keys’. The message on the verso reads, ‘Dear Sir, The undersigned is on a vacation that is different. I am part of the senior staff at the CAP summer encampment at Homestead AFB. We are giving Air Force training to 362 teenagers between the ages of 13 to 20. Fifty-five of these kids are from the Tampa Bay area, eleven from our own Gulf Beach Cadet Squadron. (Next meeting 27 August at the church by the sea). We miss WILZ and St. Petersburg, best part of the state. P.M. Hoon, Major, CAP, Group III Director of Cadets’. The card is addressed to Mr. Glen Dill, care of Radio Station WILZ, St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, and is postmarked Homestead, August 16, 1962.
