Oil painting on canvas by Tennessee Williams depicting a naked figure in the center illuminated by a chandelier. Alongside the figure is a globe on a table and a bust on the opposite table. Translated from French, the title is The Traveler, and is possibly a reference to the French dramatist Jean Anouilh's work 'Le Voyageur sans Bagage'. In the play, a veteran of World War I, who suffers from amnesia, returns as a docile character to his family home only to discover he was a violent and cruel man before the war. The character spends much of the play trying to reconcile his current personality with that of his past.Type of Painting
