Oil on canvas by Douglass Ladd depicting a woman in a pink dress standing at a street corner in Key West, holding a pink umbrella. The scene is identified as the intersection of Petronia, and Thomas streets. The figure is positioned against a backdrop of modest commercial buildings, with signs reading 'ROOMS' and 'BILLIARDS' visible on one structure. An adjacent building bears the sign 'KEY WEST BEDDING CO.' along with the words 'MARRIAGE CEREMONIES PERFORMED.'
A flowering tree with pink blossoms occupies part of the streetscape, echoing the pink tones of the woman’s dress and umbrella. The composition combines the figure, architecture, signage, and tropical vegetation to evoke the character of Bahama Village.Type of Painting
