Description

Silver plated coffee urn of tapered cylindrical shape having Renaissance (Egyptian) revival styling and incised decorations (From a seller describing an identical one online: On the underside of the pitcher, is an emblem stating "Patented by JA. STIMPSON 1854 EXTENDED FOR SEVEN YEARS" and in the interior it is stamped into the metal "Seamless Lining Patented Nov. 5, 1887 REED & BARTON". There is a large, elegantly engraved "B" initial on the body of the pitcher just under the pouring spout that has a dent in it. (see photo). James H. Stimpson of Baltimore, Maryland was listed in the Baltimore city Directory from 1851-1868 and was the son of James Stimpson, inventor of the double-walled ice pitcher.) (The eagle handle and spout may have been a mass-produced feature as it also features on Reed & Barton pitchers.)
