Description

c. 1910 door knocker featuring William Wilberforce, the British politician, philanthropist, and leader of the movement to abolish slavery. The door knocker features a relief bronze sculpture of Wilberforce sitting on a decorative chair with his left leg crossed over his right, the bottom of the chair inscribed William Wilberforce in capital letters. *bought for its association with the 19th century anti-slavery movement, as Rufus King and John were both adament anti-slavery advocates
