Letter from John A. King to Governor (New York) Silas Wright regarding residents of multiple upstate counties refusing to pay rents owed to Stephen Van Rensselaer (deceased). These tenants refused civil authorities, were often armed, and formed anti-rent associations. Handwritten, in pencil, on first page: "100 years old;" on third page: "Loaned by John J. Bliss, Jamaica, N.Y."
