Identification tag, handwritten on front: "A peg - one of several from the attic of the old stone house at 18 Ave and Main St New Utrecht L. I. Brooklyn L. I.
In winter these pegs served for hanging up dried beef, smoked fletch or hams, as well as beans, peas, popcorn & sweet corn in the ear, flower and garden seeds to keep them dry & cool, and safe from mice
The house was owned by the Van Brunts"
