"Book of Remembrance." Emily Halsey, 1857.
Published by Leavitt & Allen, New York.
Near the beginning of the book there is an inscription that says, "Minnie Halsey, from her little D(?) cousin, H.L. Paterson, May 1857." What seems to be the most interesting aspect of the book is three pages of autographs Minnie collected in the late 1850s and early 1860s. She has each of the pages set up to look like it has a stack of calling cards on it and she had each person sign their name inside these cards. There are 22 autographs, 18 of which are identifiable and 4 that are illegible. Most of the autographs are King family members, but, surprisingly, there is an autograph of the famous orator Edward Everett from February 5, 1859.Collection
