Description

Stained, cherry wood high post bedstead. The foot posts feature rectangular sections to hold the frame, and decorated with carved acanthus leaves and spiral turned posts above the rectangular piece and baluster ends below. Two molded brass covers on outsides of posts. The head posts feature the rectangular part with rectangular and circle cut outs to hold the frame and decorative, turned posts above. Frame and posts fit together via number system detailed below. A - " II " scratched near end, 2 metal hooks screwed in; missing one hook B - "VII" scratched near one end C- "VI" scratched near end, 2 metal hooks screwed in; missing one hook D - "IIII" scratched at one end "46" etched on end piece E - Head post "VIII" scratched near rectangular cut out F - Head post "II" scratched near rectangular cut out G - Foot post "46" and "IIII" scratched on inner part of post; and "46" and "III" on other side H - "46" etched on one side, and "46" and "IV" on other inner side Tag attached and handprinted in ink, "19th century bedstead/ Don B. Low/ 2735 Grand Avenue/ OJAI,CA 92032"
