Description

Ceramic figurine of male in traditional Kuwaiti dress holding falcon. The Bedouin people are a pastorally nomadic Arab tribe who have inhabited the desert of the Arab Peninsula, North Africa, the Levant, and Mesopotamia for centuries. The falcon represents the sport of falconry which is a deep-rooted part of Arab culture. While they were originally used for hunting, owning the large bird of prey is now a hobby. Additionally, the falcon can be found on the national Emblem of Kuwait with the bird representing the Banu Quraish line, the lineage in which the Islamic Prophet Muhammad belonged.

Context
