Description

Square silver powder compact with green stone. It is engraved with swirled floral designs. There is a yellowing note inside that tells who it came from.

Context

The compact was a gift to Mrs. Jessie Jordan from a sister (Princess Hamdam al-Saltaneh, Ashraf, Shams, or Fatemeh) of Iranian Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi in 1953, name is misspelled as "Palvi Rheza" on note. It is also possible that it was given to Mrs. Jordan by Shera, wife of the Shah of Persia, according to a transcript of an interview with her.
