The two Royal Crown Derby serving spoons have bone China handles with a floral pattern and silver ends. They are in a red case lined with off-white satin and the Kuwait Masonic Lodge 6810 seal in gold. There are also two notecards, one is an invitation from the Ladies' Night and the other just says "Mrs. L.T. Jordan." Royal Crown Derby has been producing tableware and ornamental items since the 1750s and is known for their high-quality bone China.Context
The spoons were gifted to Mrs. Jessie Jordan during the Twelfth Annual Ladies’ Festival at the Kuwait Masonic Lodge on February 15, 1961. The event was held in the Ahmadi Guest House, a small event space owned by the Kuwait Oil Company, and Mrs. Jordan was the Guest of Honor. Mrs. Jordan was honored at many Ladies Nights during her time in Kuwait and was often the “Guest of Honor” at such events. Ladies Nights in the Masonic Lodge are designed to honor the women in a Freemason’s life, whether that be a wife, daughter, sister, mother, or other supporting woman.Ethnography
