Description

Sons of the American Revolution limited edition Franklin Mint sterling silver plate produced June 1, 1977. The Franklin Mint is a private mint founded in Pennsylvania in 1964 and is known for their high-quality silver work. The Sons of the American Revolution organization is a federally chartered patriotic organization formed in New York City 1889 to celebrate the living descendants of individuals who fought in the American Revolution.

Context

Gifted to Mr. Jordan posthumously for recruiting more members than anyone in the year before his death. Mr. Jordan became a member of The Texas Society branch of the organization on June 14, 1973, as a descendent from Colonel Elijah Isaacks I. Lt. Col. Isaacks served as the second in command of the Wilkes County Regiment of militia from 1783-1779 in North Carolina. He also served as a representative to the North Carolina General Assembly from Wilkes County from 1778-1780 after proposing a bill to create the county in 1778. He later served as senator to the assembly in 1782 and 1783.
