The glass red owl is a fairy light made by Viking Glass. Viking Glass produced products in West Virginia from 1901-1984, with fairy lights being produced in five standard colors (red, orange, blue, green, and yellow). The company also produced many other limited-edition colors of the same design, such as brown, clear, other blue tones, and various frosted versions. The design is known as a “fairy light” because the owl would illuminate when a small tea candle was placed inside the cup part of the base.Ethnography
