The set of cufflinks are 14k gold with a gold liberty head double eagle coin set into them. One coin is dated 1901 and the other 1881. The coins are also known as Coronet double eagle coins and are American twenty-dollar gold piece. The coin was designed in 1849 and was in circulation from 1850-1907.

Context

The cufflinks were gifted to Mr. L.T. Jordan by William Alton Jones. Jones was the president of the oil and gas conglomerate Cities Service Company, now known as CITGO. He was an influential industrialist, philanthropist, and close personal friend of United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
