White porcelain figurine of woman holding flower with gold trim. The figurine is the Chinese goddess Guanyin, also spelled Quan Ying and Kwan Yin in Burmese. She is known as the goddess of mercy and the physical embodiment of compassion and is usually depicted in a small figurine holding a lotus blossom flower and gilded with a gold robe.

Context

The figurine was given to the Jordans by Chinese workmen that came to work at the Kuwait Oil Company during the 1950s.
