Description

Chained gold coin bracelet. The coins are 50 Kurush gold coins from Turkey that were in circulation from 1942-2013.

Context

The gold coin bracelet was presented to Mrs. Jessie Jordan by the King of Egypt, King Farouk I. King Farouk I was king from 1936-1952, however he was known for his “playboy lifestyle,” corruption, and incompetence in government and was subsequently forced to abdicate the throne to his infant son following a military coup in 1952. He then was exiled and lived in Rome for the remainder of his life.
