Description

Sen's Center II, 1979. These five black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show four men and two women posing individually for portrait-style photos. Image 14a shows a man with a mustache wearing an apron and smiling toward the camera. Image 15a is nearly identical to image 14a. Image 16a is very similar to the previous two images, but here the man is no longer smiling. Image 17a shows a woman wearing a shirt with a very small plaid pattern standing in front of a brick wall. Her face is turned slightly to her left and she is not smiling. Image 18a is very similar to the previous image, but here the woman is smiling. Image 19a is very similar to image 18a, but here the woman's face is oriented directly toward the camera. Image 20a shows a bearded man in a chef's jacket standing in a commercial kitchen. His head is tilted toward the right slightly and he is looking toward the camera. Image 21a is similar to the previous image, but here the man has tilted his head upward. Images 22a and 23a are nearly identical to image 21a. Image 24a shows a woman with large-framed glasses wearing a plaid shirt looking toward the camera and smiling. Images 25a and 26a are nearly identical to image 24a. Image 27a shows a man in a tie and plaid suit jacket looking toward the camera and smiling. Images 28a and 29a are nearly identical to image 27a. Image 30a shows a man with a mustache wearing an open-necked shirt and a suit jacket looking toward the camera and not smiling. He is standing in front of a wood-paneled wall. Image 31a is nearly identical to image 30a. The images in group "b" show two men with mustaches posing individually for portrait-style photos. Image 9b shows a man with a mustache and a shirt which has "Carl" embroidered on the left-hand breast. Images 10b and 11b are nearly identical to image 9b. Image 12b shows a man with a mustache wearing a blazer with a small plaid pattern. Images 13b and 14b are nearly identical to image 12b. Printed in alternation along one long edge of all of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."
