Description

Unidentified People, 1973. These six black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using three separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show people in period dress performing scenes from a play. Image 7a shows two women in dresses facing eachother. The woman at right has a bow at the neck of hr dress. Image 8a is similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has backed away or zoomed out from the two women. Image 9a shows a different woman in a dress with her right hand on her right hip and her left hand pointing toward the two women in the previous two images. Image 10a shows the three women from the previous image standing together. The woman on the left and the woman on the right have their hands on their hips. Image 11a shows a man holding knife to one of the women's throats. Image 12a shows the man who was previously holding a knife to the woman's throat now carrying that woman over his shoulder. A second man in a suit jacket is standing at the left-hand side of the image. Imae 13a shows the man in the suit jacket embracing a woman from behind. Image 14a shows the man in the suit jacket standing next to two women. Images 15a and 16a show a woman leaning against a second woman. The images in group "b" show workmen either putting up or removing the letters which spell out "CAPITAL PAVILION" on the pavilion on the Saint Martin's campus. Image 10b shows nearly the entire front side of the pavilion. Two men are visible on ladders either putting up or removing the letters. Image 11b is nearly identical to image 10b. Image 12b shows a closer-up view of the two men on the ladders. Image 13b is nearly identical to image 12b. Image 18b shows the ladders leaning up against the front of the pavilion. No one is on the ladders. Images 19b and 20b are nearly identical to image 18b. Image 21b shows the "N" on the front of the pavilion. Image 22b shows some of the letters laying on the ground. The images in group "c" shows a man holding an automobile engine piston. The man's nametag reads "Glen." Images 26c through 28c show the man holding the piston.
