Southgate Hobbies, 1979. These five black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are duplicated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show a man wearing a short-sleeved, button-up shirt posing for photos in various areas of a hobby shop. Image 15a shows the man standing with his right arm resting on a display case. The man's hand is hanging off of the side of the display case. To the right of the man is a floor-to-ceiling display of what appears to be models and modeling supplies. This image is oriented vertically. Images 16a through 18a are nearly identical to image 15a. Image 19a is very similar to the previous four images, but this image is oriented horizontally. Here the man's hand is also elevated several inches above the display case. Image 20a is very similar to the previous image, but this image is oriented vertically. Image 21a is nearly identical to image 19a. Image 22a is very similar to the previous image, but here the man is smiling and the photographer has stepped back slightly or zoomed out from the man. Image 23a is nearly identical to image 22a. Image 24a shows the man standing in a different area of the store. To the right of the man is visible small modeling paint jars, spray paint cans, and paint brushes. To the left and behind the man is a model airplane. The man is looking toward his left. Images 25a through 27a are nearly identical to imae 24a.
The images in group "b" show the same man in a different area of the shop.
Image 24b shows the man standing behind a display case and holding a model airplane. The man is looking down at the plane, and the plane's left wing is touching or nearly touching the top of the display case. Image 25b is nearly identical to image 24b. Image 26b is very similar to the previous image, but here the man is looking toward the camera. Image 27b shows the man touching the model plane's propeller with both hands. The plane is sitting on top of the display case. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 28b is very similar to the previous image, but here the image is oriented vertically. Image 29b is very similar to the previous image, but here the man is smiling. Image 30b shows the man looking toward the camera and touching the underside of the right wing with his right hand's fingertips.Made/Created
