Description

Dorothea Billy, 1980. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show an older woman with glasses working in a commercial kitchen. Image 44 shows the woman looking down at a stovetop with a flat-top grill on the left-hand side. There are hamburgers and hamburger buns on the flat-top grill. A dress and jacket are hanging on a door in the background. Image 1 shows the woman bending forward and preparing to slice what appears to be a small ham. Image 2 shows the woman slicing the ham. Image 3 shows the woman looking toward the camera. She is still working with the ham. Image 4 is very similar to the previous image, but here she is cutting up a slice of ham while looking toward the camera. Image 5 shows the woman looking down at the ham and prepring to gather the cut-up ham with both hands. Image 6 shows the woman again cutting up the ham. Image 7 shows the woman looking toward the camera and holding a sandwich or hanmburger in her hands. Image 8 shows the woman flipping a hamburger on the flat-top grill. Image 9 shows the woman holding a hamburger bun in her left hand and a metal spatula in her right hand. Image 10 shows the woman holding a plate with two hamburgers on it in her left hand while looking toward the camera and smiling. Printed at intervals along the right-hand edge of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
