Unidentified People and a Rock, 1980. These three black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show several children sitting on the lap of a man dressed as Santa Claus, and a rock next to a tree with the bottom center section rotted out. Image 30 shows the man dressed as Santa Claus holding on his left knee a toddler in a winter coat. The toddler is laying back onto Santa's left hand and forearm. Santa and the toddler are looking at each other. Image 31 is very similar to the previous image, but here the toddler is sitting up straighter. Image 32 is nearly identical to image 31. Image 33 is similar to the previous image, but here Santa is holding up a candy cane in front of the toddler. Image 34 shows a young boy climbing up into Santa's lap. The boy is wearing a jacket with a faux-wool lining. Image 35 shows an older boy, around twelve years in age, sitting on Santa's left knee. He is wearing jeans and a baseball-style t-shirt. Image 36 shows Santa holding the same child seen in images 30-33. Here the child is being held in Santa's right arm. Image 37 is nearly identical to image 36. Image 38 shows a little boy sitting on Santa's right knee and a little girl sitting on Santa's left knee. The little boy is wearing a sailor's outfit and the girl is wearing either pants with very wide legs or a skirt. Image 39 shows Santa holding in his left arm a toddler wearing a vest. Image 43 shows a tall, pointed rock. Between the camera and the rock are either broken stubs of small plants or small plants that are just beginning to break out of the soil. The top of the rock is outside of the top edge of this image. A fern is partially visible in the top, left-hand corner of the image. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 44 shows the same scene, but here the image is oriented vertically. Here a tree with a void at the base is visible just behind the rock, or the rock may in fact be in the void of the tree. Image 1-3 are nearly identical to image 44.
Printed at intervals along one long edge of these three film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."Made/Created
