Description

Art Pieces and a Flower; Unknown Dates. These three black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using two separate film rolls, so one of the physical numbers on the strips is duplicated. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images. The images in group "a" show fairly close-up shots of small flowers growing amongst some grass. The main flower has a bell-shaped collection of petals surrounded by four petals which stick straight out from the base of the bell portion. The top section of the stem is curved downward, suggesting that the flower is not fully grown. A less mature example of the same flower is next to the main flower. Image 43a shows the main flower with its stems extending vertically through the center of the image. The flower itself is near the top of the image. The less meature flower is to the left. Images 44a through 2a are nearly identical to image 43a. Image 3a shows only the main flower. The flower itself is at the center of the image. Image 4a is nearly identical to image 3a. Image 5a shows a closer-up view of the main flower. Here the flower is occupying the top-left quadrant of the image. This image is slightly blurred. Image 6a is similar to image 5a, but here the photographer has zoomed out slightly from the flower. Images 7a and 8a are nearly identical to image 6a. The images in group "b" show a portrait-style piece of art depicting an older man wearing a cap, and a piece of art depicting a dog sitting next to a tree. Image 42b shows a framed piece of art depicting an older man with a cap sitting crookedly on top of his head. The image may be a painting, a drawing, or a photograph. Image 43b shows a framed piece of art depicting a small dog sitting to the left of a tree and looking toward the camera. This piece of art appears to be a photograph, but may in fact be a highly naturalistic painting or drawing. There is a first place ribbon affixed to the top right corner of this piece of art's frame.
