Diabetic Children, Unknown Date. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show two boys, two young women and a man with glasses standing outside of a car. The car has a sign on the driver's side door which reads "COMMUNITY RADIO WATCH." The man has a CB radio microphone in his hand, and the microphone is attached to a cord running into the open driver's door window. Ken Balsley believed these images were related to the American Diabetes Association.
Image 21 shows, from left to right: a boy wearing a hooded, zippered sweatshirt and plaid pants; a young woman wearing a hooded, zippered sweatshirt and a round necklace pendant; the man with glasses holding the microphone, who is wearing a jacket with two name tags or similar items attached (the text on these is not readable); a young woman in a rain jacket that goes down to the mid-thigh; and a young man wearing glasses, a jacket and plaid pants. The two women's arms are crossed. A car is parked behind these people, and the front end of the car is pointed toward the left. Image 22 is nearly identical to image 21. Image 23 is very similar to the previous two images, but here the young woman on the left is looking toward the camera. The two young women's arms are now down at their sides. Image 20 is similar to the previous image, but here the young woman on the left is looking off toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Her arms are again crossed. Image 25 is similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has either moved back or zoomed out from his subjects. Image 26 is virtually identical to image 25.Made/Created
