Flower Basket, Unknown Date. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show two women posing with a large, elaborate bouquet of flowers. Also shown are individual portrait-style photos of the two women, and also what appears to be a flower corsage in a large glass jar. These images were captured in The Flower Basket, a floral shop.
Image 20 shows the two women looking at the bouquet. The older of the two women is on the left, and the younger woman is at the center. The bouquet is at the right-hand side of the image. Image 21 shows the younger woman at left, the bouquet at center, and the older woman is at right. Image 22 shows the older of the two women posing with the bouquet. The woman is at the center of the image, and the bouquet is at the left. The woman is wearing glasses and a cardigan, and is shown from the mid-torso up. Image 23 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has zoomed in on or moved closer to the woman. Image 24 shows the younger of the two women at the center of the image, and the bouquet at the left. The woman is wearing a dress with thick shoulder straps over a half turtleneck sweater. Images 25 and 26 are nearly identical to image 24. Image 27 shows what appears to be a corsage in a clear glass jar. Many bouquets of various sizes are visible in the background.
The Flower Basket operated out of two different physical locations simultaneously for at least some of their time in business. One was 1621 W. Harrison Avenue in Olympia, and one was 4022 Pacific Avenue in Lacey. (Advertisement, Olympian, 3/30/1983)Made/Created
