Humane Society Kennel, Unknown Date. These five black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a woman (Gay Olson) in a Thurston County Humane Society uniform posing individually and interacting with several different dogs. These images also show several other people working at the Humane Society. Image 26 shows Ms. Olson posing for a portrait-style photo. She is facing toward the right-hand side of the image frame, and wearing glasses. Her name can be seen on a name tag on her chest. She appears to be speaking. Image 27 is very similar to the previous image, but here Ms. Olson is not speaking. Image 28 shows Ms. Olson in profile, facing the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 29 shows individual kennels with dogs in them. The kennels are numbered, from left to right, as 1-4. Kennel #2 has two dogs in it, and the other kennels each have one dog in them. Image 30 shows Ms. Olson holding a puppy. The puppy is on the left, and Ms. Olson is on the right. Ms. Olson is looking down at the puppy. Image 31 is similar to the previous image, but here the puppy is looking back at Ms. Olson. Ms. Olson's lips are pursed. Image 32 is very similar to the previous image, but here the puppy's nose is almost touching Ms. Olson's chin. Ms. Olson's face is scrunched up. Image 33 individually shows the puppy seen in the previous three images. The puppy is looking toward the camera. Image 34 shows Ms. Olson at an open kennel door reaching in and holding a puppy's right front leg in her hand. The kennel door is vertically barred, and is between the camera and Ms. Olson/the puppy. Image 35 is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 36 shows Ms. Olson inside of a kennel with one (or perhaps two dogs). Ms. Olson is touching the dog's neck with both hands. The dog is supporting itself with one front leg on Ms. Olson's leg. There is something furry to the left of and behind the dog. It is unclear if this is a second dog or the first dog's tail. Image 37 shows Ms. Olson standing in a long hallway with kennels on each side. She is facing toward the right-hand side of the image frame and bending forward slightly. Image 38 shows Ms. Olson in the same hallway, but here she is facing toward the camera. Image 39 shows six or seven very young puppy's sleeping in a group on top of a blanket. Image 40 shows Ms. Olson standing at a closed kennel door. She is reaching two fingers of her right hand through the chain-link fencing door of the kennel toward a dog. That dog is touching one of its front paws to Ms. Olson's fingers. Image 41 shows another portrait-style photo of Ms. Olson. She is facing toward the right-hand side of the image and appears to be speaking. Image 42 shows one man on a ladder and one man standing nearby. The men are near the kennel doors, and the man on the ladder appears to be doing something to the top of or one of the hinges of one of the kennel doors. Both men are facing away from the camera. Image 43 shows one man and one woman working behind a reception desk at the Thurston County Humane Society. The woman is the closer of the two people to the camera, and she has a clip in her hair. The man is in the background facing away from the camera and working on a typewriter. Both the man and the woman are wearing Thurston County Humane Society uniforms. There is a calendar hanging on the wall, but it is not in-focus enough to be read. Image 44 shows a young man in profile facing toward the left-hand side of the image. He has wavy hair which covers his ears, and he is wearing a collared shirt.
