Unidentified People, Unknown Dates. These seven black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using three separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, the strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images,
The images in group "a" show a young man designing a building, playing basketball and sitting on top of a row of lockers. Image 36a shows the young man lining up a large ruler on a blueprint. He is looking down toward the blueprint. Image 37a is very similar to the previous image, but here the young man is looking toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 38a shows the young man lining up a smaller ruler on the blueprint. He is looking down toward the blueprint. Image 39a shows the young man lining up a triangular ruler on the blueprint. He is looking toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Image 40a shows a portrait-style shot of the young man. His eyes are oriented downward. Image 41a shows the young man getting into a locker in a locker room. He is facing toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 42a shows the young man standing in a gymnasium and preparing to take a shot with a basketball. The basektball is obscuring the young man's face below his eyes. Image 43a is similar to the previous image, but here the young man is holding the basketball above his head with both hands. Image 44a is similar to the previous two images, but here the young man is holding the ball at chest level. The ball is obscuring his right shoulder and most of his neck. Image 1a shows the young man holding the ball above his head. His left upper arm is obscuring most of his face. Image 2a shows the young man on top of a row of lockers. His legs are on top of the locker, and laying off to his right side. He is propping his upper body up with his left elbow. He is smiling. Images 3a and 4a are nearly identical to image 2a. Image 5a shows the young man sitting on top of the lockers. He is sitting up and his legs are hanging down in front of the lockers. This image is blurry. Image 6a is nearly identical to the previous image, but it is not blurry.
The images in group "b" show two women in dresses with separate short jacket-style tops posing for photos in a nondescript room. Image 37b shows the two women seated at a table with a small bouquet in a vase on it. The woman on the left has shorter hair and is wearing a short jacket with sequins or some other small reflective items on it. The woman on the right is wearing a plain jacket-style top which ties at the neck. The woman on the left is looking at the woman on the right. Both women are smiling. Image 38b shows the two women now standing, and each has an arm around the other's shoulder. Their free hands are on their hips. The woman with longer hair is now on the left, the woman with shorter hair on the right. The table and the bouquet are still visible at the bottom of the image. The women have large smiles on their faces. Image 39b shows the two women still standing, but here their hands are folded in front of themselves. The woman on the left is looking at the woman on the right, and the woman on the right is looking toward the camera and smiling. Image 40b is very similar to the previous image, but here both women are looking toward the camera. Image 41b shows the two women sitting on the table. The woman with longer hair is on the left. The woman on the right has her hands on her knees. The women are looking at eachother and laughing. Image 42b is similar to the previous image, but here the woman on the right is holding her hands up together at chest level. The woman on the left is tipping her head back and to the her left. Image 43b is similar to the previous image, but here the woman on the left is leaning forward very slightly. Image 44b is similar to the previous three images, but here each woman is pointing upward with their right index fingers. Image 1b is similar to the previous four images, but here the woman on the right is holding her right arm up with the hand hanging limply at the wrist. She is leaning her head toward her hand. Image 2b shows the woman on the left resting her left elbow on the right shoulder of the woman on the right. The woman on the right has her hands folded in her lap. Image 3b shows both women sitting with their hands in their laps and looking at each other. The woman on the right is much closer to the camera, and she is turned somewhat away from the camera. Image 4b shows the woman on the right holding her arms out limply and appearing to lean back slightly. The woman on the left is looking at her and smiling. Image 5b shows the two women standing and posing with their hands on their hips. Both are looking toward the camera.
The images in group "c" show a man with sideburns wearing a blazer and diagonally-striped tie seated in a chair. Image 44c shows the man sitting with his hands on his legs or in his lap. He is facing somewhat toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is shown from the waist up. Image 1c shows the man still seated in the chair, but he has his left arm hanging over the back of the chair. He is holding his right hand up in front of himself. He is facing toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 2c is similar to the previous image, but her his left hand is in his lap and his right hand is being helf out with the palm up.
Printed at intervals along one long edge of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."Made/Created
