Spelling Bee, 1974. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show three young boys posing individually for portrait-style photos in front of bookcases. Image 20 shows a boy wearing a light jacket and a t-shirt or light sweater over a collared shirt. There is a button on his shirt which bears a symbol which looks like a crown wreathed in foliage. He is facing slightly toward the right-hand side of the image frame, and he is looking toward the camera, and he is smiling. Image 21 is very similar to the previous image, but here the boy's eyes are closed. Image 22 is very similar to image 20, but here the boy is facing slightly toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 23 shows a boy wearing a letterman's-style jacket with a Miami Dolphins logo on the left-hand breast. He is facing slightly toward the right-hand side of the image frame, looking toward the camera and smiling. He is wearing a button with the same crown design as the boy in images 20-22. Image 24 is very similar to the previous image, but here the boy is not smiling, and instead has a slightly confused look on his face. Image 25 shows the same boy seen in images 23 and 24, but here he is facing slightly toward the left-hand side of the image frame. His mouth is open, and he appears to be speaking. Image 26 shows a different boy wearing a sweatshirt with a crew neck. He is facing slightly toward the right-hand side of the image frame, and he is showing a closed-lipped smile. He is wearing the same button as the other two boys. Image 27 is nearly identical to image 26. Image 28 is very similar to the previous image, but here the boy is facing slightly toward the left-hand side of the image frame.
Written along the right-hand side of these film negative strips is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM."Made/Created
