John Mangham, 1979. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show an older man with glasses (John Mangham) sitting at a table and looking through a scrapbook. Image 21 shows Mr. Mangham facing toward the right-hand side of the image. He is shown nearly in profile. He is looking down at a picture in the scrapbook. This picture shows a tall triangular framework. A group of people are standing in a row at the bottom of the framework. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 22 is very similar to the previous image, but here the image is oriented vertically. Image 23 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has raised his point of view and is looking downward onto Mr. Mangham. Image 24 is nearly identical to image 23. Image 25 shows Mr. Mangham looking at a picture in the scrapbook of an eclipse. This image is taken from slightly behind Mr. Mangham. Image 26 shows Mr. Mangham still looking at the picture of the eclipse in the scrapbook. Mr. Mangham is shown nearly in profile. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 27 is very similar to the previous image, but here the image is oriented vertically. Image 28 is very similar to image 26, but here the photographer has moved slightly to their right, making more of Mr. Mangham's face visible. Images 29 and 30 are nearly identical to image 28.
These images were captured for inclusion with an article profiling John Mangham. The photos Mr. Mangham is viewing in these images relate to a Navy mission to photograph an eclipse he served on in 1929. ("Lacey profile: John Mangham," Lacey Leader, 3/14/1979).Made/Created
