Description

Unidentified People, Unknown Dates. These four black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a store during Easter season. This store may be in South Sound Center. Also shown are adults and children at an elelmentary school. Image 8 shows a woman with short hair wearing a top decorated with bee designs. He body is oriented toward the camera, but she is looking off toward her right. To the right of the woman is a large stuffed Easter bunny. Several smaller stuffed animals are in front of her. There is a small wall clock in the upper left corner of the image. The wallpaper on the wall behind her has a floral pattern on it. Image 9 shows a closer-up view of the woman which is also looking upward toward her face. A portion of the stuffed bunny and other stuffed animals are visible in the image foreground. The woman is smiling and looking toward her left. Image 10 again shows the woman standing with the stuffed animals. Here she is looking toward her right and toward the camera. Image 11 shows the woman from the previous three images in profile. She is facing toward the right-hand side of the image. Although the background is blurry, it appears to show that the woman is in a large clothing or department store. Image 12 shows an egg carton filled with candles in the shape of eggs. A small sign reads "Candle Easter Eggs" and states that the eggs cost 39 cents each. Several of the eggs are outside of the carton, and they are sitting on top of a small table or box with a rectangular hole in it. Image 13 shows a closer-up view of the egg candles. Image 14 shows the woman seen in images 8 through 11 with her body oriented toward the left-hand side of the image frame, but her head turned toward the camera. Image 15 shows the eggs on top of a round clothing display rack. A small, round sign attached to the clothes rack reads "12" four times around it. Image 16 shows the stuffed Easter bunny on top of a round clothing display rack. There are two handbags on top of the rack with the bunny. Image 17 shows an older woman wearing glasses and a light jacket or zippered sweater with her head and body oriented partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. She is manipulating a small object in her hands, and she is looking down at the object. A pair of metal scissors are laying on a table or counter in front of her. Image 18 shows the woman seen in the previous image manipulating what appears to be a small bow in her hands. The image is overexposed, so details are difficult to make out. Her face is mostly outside of the image frame, and only her nose, mouth, chin and glasses are partially visible in the upper left corner of the image. Image 19 is similar to image 18, but here the photographer has zoomed in on the bow or similar object in the woman's hands. The image is again overexposed. Image 23 shows a woman with long hair and a child standing on the oppposite side of a reception counter from the photographer. Only the top half of the child's face is visible over the counter. A person writing something down is visible on the same side of the counter as the photographer. This person is mostly obscured by a large discoloration on the image. Image 24 shows a little girl walking toward the entrance of what is presumably a school. The little girl is facing directly away from the camera, and is dressed in a knee-length jacket and boots. She is carrying a square bag with handles in her right hand. The entrance has a set of double doors, and the right-hand door stands open. The left-hand door is closed and has a sign on it which reads "Lunch and Milk Tickets in Cafeteria." Image 25 shows a woman and three children walking away from a building. The portion of the wall visible in this image is made almost entirely of windows, and tables and chairs are visible through the windows. The woman is holding a small child in her arms, and this child is wearing a coat with the hood up. Two children are visible behind and to the left of the woman. One is a little boy holding a wadded-up piece of clothing in his arms. He is looking toward the camera and has a pouty look on his face. The other child is a girl wearing horizontally-striped socks. She is looking toward the right-hand side of the image frame and appears to be talking. Image 26 shows several adults and children, but the image is partially cut off and additionally covered by a large discoloration similar to the that described to that on image 23. Printed along one long edge of the strips bearing images 8 through 19 is "KODAK SAFETY FILM' and "KODAK TRI X PAN FILM." Printed along one edge of the strip bearing images 23 through 26 is "KODAK SAFETY FILM 5063."
