Description

Arctic Circle, 1973. This single black and white film negative strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show exterior shots of an Arctic Circle restaurant. Image 22 focuses on the large, free-standing Arctic Circle sign on the corner next to the restaurant building. On the sign is an illustration of a penguin in a cowboy hat holding a branding iron with an "A" design on it. A fire hydrant is visible in the foreground, and the restaurant is in the background behind the free-standing sign. This image is oriented vertically. Image 23 shows another exterior shot of the restaurant. The free-standing sign is nearly centered in the image, and the restaurant is again on the far side of the sign. A pickup truck is parked next to the building and it is partially obscured behind the sign. Two ladders are leaned up against the building near the pickup truck, and debris is strewn around the building. Several sets of staging are partially visible through the windows of the restaurant. The building is under construction. Images 24 and 25 are nearly identical to image 23. Printed in alternation along one long edge of this film negative strip is "KODAK SAFETY FILM" and "KODA TRI X PAN FILM."
