Description

Modern Modules, 1973. These two black and white film negative strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a crane either picking up or setting down a very large wooden box onto the bed of a semi truck. In the background is a large corrugated metal building with a sign reading "MODERN MODULES" near the top. Two of the images also show three men posing in front of the scene described above. Images 29 through 34 show the crane, semi truck and building. Image 35 shows the three men posing in front of the scene. The man at left is wearing a wicker fedora and a zippered sweater with the sleeves rolled up. Ken Balsley believed the man at left is Tom Martin. At center is a man in a suit and tie holding a tobacco pipe. THis man is Fred Thunberg. At right is a man in a vertically-striped, short-sleeved collared shirt. This man is Floyd Pugh. The man at the left is looking toward the camera, and the other two men are looking at the man on the left. Image 36 is very similar to the previous image, but here the man on the left is looking toward the other two men. All of the men are laughing.
