Plastic KGY novelty "Mike-Radio" used as giveaway items for promotion. Only tunes to 1240 AM. Letters were once attached to the top "KGY". Letters on the side read "MBS" and on the bottom "1240 KC". 1240 KC refers to the frequency the station broadcasted at.Context
These novelty radios were marketed and sold through promoters for specific radio stations throughout the 1950s and 1960s and eventually even were FM sets.
