Description

Archie Knowles, 1980. This single black and white contact print strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show two seated men looking over a spiral-bound document at a desk in an office. The images are focused on the older of the two men (Archie Knowles). This older man is bald and he is wearing glasses, a houndstooth blazer, and tie. The younger of the two men has a mustache and is wearing a cordroy blazer, a pinstriped dress shirt and a diagonally-striped tie. The document they are looking at is labeled "1981 Budget." Image 30 shows the two men looking down at the document. Mr. Knowles is roughly centered in the image, and the other man is partially outside of the left-hand edge of the image frame. This image was captured across the desk from the two men. The document is laying on top of the desk. Mr. Knowles is touching the document with his left hand. A stapler and a second spiral-bound document are on the desk to the right of Mr. Knowles's left arm. A window looking out on some tree trunks is partially visible in the top-left corner of the image. Image 31 shows Mr. Knowles holding the document up in front of himself with both hands and looking at it. The other man is prtially visible along the right-hand edge of the image. This man is holding a pen in his hands. Image 32 is very similar to the previous image, but here Mr. Knowles has laid the document back onto the desk. He is lifting the top-right corner of the document slightly with his right hand. Image 33 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has moved approximately two feet to their left. Image 34 is very similar to image 33, but here the photographer again has moved approximately two feet to their left.
