In-car speaker from the Lacey Drive-In. Rounded rectangular shaped steel speaker has a round black plastic volume knob inset at the bottom. In the center is a circular vented section with holes for sound to come through. Horizontal metal lines span the front of this. Top and bottom edges are rounded. At the top is an RCA logo in a circle with the lightning bolt coming left from the "A". On the back is a metal hook so that it could be attached to a car window. On the back viewer's right is a black wrapped wire cable that is broken off. The base case is attached with two screws in the back, one on the top left corner and one in the center.
Brian Stretch accidentally drove off with the speaker in his window because of the commotion caused by an armed robbery that night at the Drive-In.
From doing online research, it seems that Drive-In Theatre Manufacturing Co. (DIT-MCO) purchased the rights to RCA drive-in speakers although I haven't been able to determine when that happened. Other information suggests that part of their agreement was that the RCA logo had to be replaced with the DIT-MCO logo. Others have noted that many of these still have the RCA logo on the knob. Other anecdotes from locals about the Lacey Drive-In suggest that at some point they stopped using the speakers (due to the high loss from drive offs) and used the radio instead.Made/Created
