Sports Award Winners, Unknown Date. These eight black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images were created using three separate film rolls, so some of the physical numbers on the strips are repeated. For the purposes of this description, these strips will be grouped according to the film roll from which they originally came. Each group will be assigned a lower-case letter to go along with the physical numbers on the strips (ex: 1a, 2a, 3a, 1b, 2b, 3b, etc.) to help differentiate between images.
The images in group "a" show eight different young men posing individually for photos. All of the young men are shown from the mid-torso up. Image 6a shows a young man posing for photos. His hair is somewhat long and it is parted toward the right. He is wearing a turtleneck sweater with the sleeves pushed up past the elbows. His head and body are partially turned toward the left-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 7a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 8a shows a young man with hair parted to his right wearing a collared, button-up shirt with a pattern made up of many small diamond-shaped groupings of four dots. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and smiling. Image 9a shows the same young man as in the previous image, but here his head is turned slightly more toward the right-hand side of the image frame. Here the young man is frowning slightly. Image 11a shows a young man with chin-length hair which is parted toward his right. He is wearing a striped polo shirt under what appears to be a letterman's jacket. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 12a is nearly identical to image 11a. Image 13a shows a young man with hair which covers his ears. He is wearing a hooded sweatshirt over a t-shirt with snaps down the front. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 14a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 15a shows a young man with shoulder-length hair parted to his left and sideburns. He is wearing a collared, button-up shirt with a pattern reminiscent of Persian rugs. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 16a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 17a is very similar to the previous two images, but here the man's mouth is opened very slightly. Image 18a shows a young man with chin-length hair. He is wearing a collared, button-up shirt with an unzipped jacket over it. He may be wearing suspenders. His head and body are turned toward the left-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 19a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 20a shows a young man with chin-length hair and full bangs wearing a collared, button-up shirt with a pattern of many x-shaped knots amongst diamond shapes. His head and body are turned toward the left-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 21a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 22a shows a young man with chin-length hair and full bangs wearing a tight t-shirt. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 22a is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 24a shows the same young man as seen in images 6a and 7a. This image is very similar to images 6a and 7a, but here the young man's head is certainly slightly more toward the left-hand side of the image frame.
The images in group "b" show six different young men posing individually for photos. Image 6b shows a young man with chin-length hair an full bangs wearing a button-up, collared shirt. His head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. His eyes are closed and he is laughing. Image 7b is very similar to the previous image, but here the young man is looking toward the camera and smiling very slightly. Image 8b is very similar to image 7b, but here the young man is not smiling. Image 9b shows a young man with shoulder-length hair and full bangs wearing a thin sweater with a crew-style collar which is approximately twice as tall as a standard t-shirt collar. Image 10b is nearly identical to the previous image. Image 34b shows a young man with chin-length hair and full bangs wearing a letterman's jacket over a button-up, collared shirt. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 35b is very similar to the previous image, but here the man is partially turned toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 36b shows a young man with full bangs and hair which covers his ears wearing a collared, button-up shirt. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 37b is very similar to the previous image, but here the young man is turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. Image 38b shows a young man with very wavy hair parted toward his right. He is wearing a letterman's jacket over a sweater or vest, which is in turn over a button-up, collare shirt with a zig-zag pattern on it. His head and body are turned toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 39b shows the same man as in the previous image, but here his head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame. His eyes are closed and his mouth is open. Image 40b shows a young man with wavy hair which covers his ears wearing a sweater-vest over a collared, button-up shirt with stripes and diamond shapes on it. His head and body are turned partially toward the right-hand side of the image frame. He is looking toward the camera and not smiling. Image 41b is very similar to the previous image, but here the young man's head and body are turned partially toward the left-hand side of the image frame.
The images in group "c" show a woman with curly hair standing near a shelf. Image 28c shows a woman with curly hair wearing a collared, button-up shirt standing to the left of what appears to be a large, hanging piece of fabric with a design depicting a tall vase and bunches of grapes. Behind the woman are some shelves. Image 29c shows the woman from the mid-chest up. Her head is turned toward the left-hand side of the image frame and she is smiling. Image 30c is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has stepped away or zoomed out from the woman slightly. Image 31c shows the woman standing next to some shelves. The shelves are on the right-hand side of the image frame, but it is difficult to make out the items on the shelf. Image 32c shows the woman's head is profile.Made/Created
