Description

Tumwater Scholarship Winners, Unknown Date. These two black and white contact print strips were created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show two women posing together with a framed painting and separately with what appears to be a bank check. The woman at the left in all of the images has short hair and is wearing glasses. She is also wearing long earrings and a dress with short sleeves and a bow at the neckline. The woman at the right in all of the images has shoulder-length hair and is wearing a necklace and a dress with short sleeves and stripes on the torso section. Image 1 appears to show where a wall meets a ceiling. No people or other objects are visible in this image. Image 2 shows the two women standing next to each other and holding a framed painting of what appears to be Tumwater Falls. The woman with glasses' right hand is holding onto the painting at the middle of the left-hand edge. The woman without glasses' left hand is holding the painting at the lower-right corner. Both women are turned slightly toward eachother. The women are shown from the mid-thigh up. This image is oriented horizontally. Image 3 is very similar to the previous image, but here the woman with glasses' face is turned directly toward the camera. Image 4 is very similar to image 3, but here the image is oriented vertically. The women are shown from the mid-calf up. Image 5 is very similar to the previous three images, but here the two women are holding onto a bank check instead of a painting. This image is oriented horizontally. The corner of a desk is visible in the lower-left corner of this film negative strip. A window is partially visible at the right-hand edge of the image. Image 6 is very similar to the previous image, but here the image is oriented vertically. Image 7 is nearly identical to image 6.
