Non-jointed jaw breaker bit used together with a bridle to control a spirited large draft horse, possibly a "shank bit". A cross rod is welded onto two perpendicular side rods. There is a fixed ring at one end of each side rod, and loose rings attached at the other end of the side rods. There is a flat piece of metal wrapped around the cross rod and riveted.
This bit was used at the Brohman farm in North Dakota in the early 1900s.Made/Created
