Description

Lacey Police Radar Unit, 1976. This single black and white contact print strip was created for the Lacey Leader newspaper. These images show a policeman (Ed Jones) operating a traffic radar from inside of a police cruiser. These images were captured both from outside and from inside of the cruiser. Image 43 shows the officer sitting in the driver's seat of the cruiser and aiming the handheld portion of the radar out of the driver's side window. This office has a mustache and is wearing sunglasses. Printed on the driver's side door of the cruiser is "LACEY POLICE." A portion of the front and back ends of the car are outside of the image frame. Image 44 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has angled the camera upward slightly. Image 1 is very similar to the previous image, but here the photographer has zoomed in on the cruiser slightly. Image 2 shows the officer operating the radar, but here the image was captured from inside of the cruiser. The photographer appears to be sitting in the passenger seat. The officer is facing away from the camera. Images 3 and 4 are nearly identical to image 2. These images were created for inclusion with an article concerning the issuance of traffic tickets by the Lacey Police Department. ("Police push on to write tickets," Lacey Leader, 9/29/1976)
